Quotes from participants:
“Breakfast Buddies is fun! You get to learn how to read books in fun ways to your kids, there’s lots of other activities to help your children learn and you get a free breakfast and free books and meet up with other parents”
Breakfast Buddies runs in partnership with local primary schools, community groups and Speech and Language Therapy Department, open to all parents
What can I expect?
Bi-monthly interactive workshop for 90 minutes in the local Axis Centre. You will learn new and exciting ways to support your child’s reading, writing and talking skills. You will receive a free literacy pack when Breakfast Buddies is over to bring home to your child. Breakfast is served free from 9am and there is plenty of fun and chat with other parents.
Why do we do it?
Each Breakfast Buddies morning is spent supporting parents in fun ways to enjoy learning with their children at home. Parents learn to:
- Hug their books!
- Model to their children that learning is fun and enjoyable
- Encourage their children to have a positive attitude to learning
- Develop their children’s imagination, reading and writing skills, language skills and a love of learning.
- Reflect on home learning opportunities
